Steve began his career in homebuilding in 1999 after spending 5 years as a designer and project manager for a passenger train company. In 2004, Steve accepted a position with Wonderland Homes. By 2009, Steve was the VP of Operations and became President in 2011, followed by CEO in 2012. Steve is actively engaged in many aspects of the industry. He serves as the President for HomeAid Colorado, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe shelter for the homeless or at-risk population. Steve is also active in the NAHB Builder 20 program, a peer group of industry leaders focused on excellence in homebuilding operations, best-practices, and KPI improvement. He leads our Energy Star initiative and has been involved in multiple energy efficiency pilot programs and task forces over the years, including the Greenprint Denver initiative started by (then Mayor) John Hickenlooper, Energy Star Indoor Air Quality program, and most recently is part of a nationwide 15-person initiative, “Retooling the US Housing Industry Executive Workshop” – an invite-only think tank to continue to push high-performance homebuilding initiatives across the country. Steve’s vision for success is to create an organization with a reputation as “The Builder of Choice” among our buyers, the overall community, our trade and finance partners, our employees and their families. Steve works to maintain our brand, “it’s about character” in every aspect of our operations while executing at a high level and assuring we outperform our peers.
